Dear Brothers and Sisters of Local 12:

I am very sorry to report to you that on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, Local 12 Retiree Brian Whitaker passed away. He was 68 years old.  Not only was Brian my Local 12 Brother; I considered him a close family friend.  I first met Brian when I was in high school.  My father thought the world of Brian and brought him to our house.  My dad took Brian under his wing.  He told me Brian was one of the good guys.  I had the opportunity to get to know Brian well when I came in the business.  We worked together on more than one occasion.  My dad was right he was one of the good guys.
Brian was a hard worker and a good Union Man.  His son Corey followed in his footsteps and is a Local 12 Mechanic Insulator.  Brian had a good sense of humor.  It did not matter how long it had been since I had seen him, every time it was like we saw each other every day.  He would come up with some funny story and we would laugh like we were still working together – even though it could have been months since I had last seen him
I was so happy for Brian when he retired.  I knew he liked to fish and go to Atlantic City and I felt he would really enjoy retirement.
He was quite to those who did not know him but he was an honorable and loyal friend.  In January of 1993 my father had a serious stroke.  After he was in the hospital he had to go to a rehabilitation center.  Brian came to see him and he never knew how much it meant to my dad, myself and my whole family.  Yes Brian was definitely one of the good guys.  Though I would only talk to him or see him every now an then, I am going to miss him.  I am sure my father met him when he arrived in Heaven and gave him a big hug.
Brian was more than just one of the good guys- he was a father, husband, friend and of course a Local 12 Mechanic Insulator.
I ask all of your to keep Brian and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2021, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Rezem Funeral Home located at:
457 Cranbury Road
East Brunswick, NJ 08816

May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Brian For All Eternity.

In Deepest Sorrow, Sympathy, Sincerity and Solidarity,
Al Wassell

Professional Craftsman Code of Conduct
The International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Professional Craftsman Code of Conduct (PCCC) is a program to promote jobsite excellence and customer satisfaction. The goal of the PCCC is a job built on time, under budget, and built right the first time.

The PCCC will be accomplished through teamwork on the job and projecting a positive attitude about the work performed on and off the job. The “Quality Control Craftsman” (QCC) shall have full responsibility for communicating the PCCC to all members and employers and insuring both are fully meeting their responsibility to our PCCC.

The PCCC instills in our members and employers’ pride in their craftsmanship and accomplishments. Upon completion of the project, the lasting impression of quality workmanship will remain with the customer, prompting him to utilize the IAHFIAW and our Employers again.

Amazon Workers in Alabama Begin Historic Vote on Unionization

In labor news, some 6,000 Amazon workers in Alabama begin voting on February 8, 2021, on whether to unionize, in what could become the first successful union drive at a U.S. Amazon warehouse. Workers are demanding stronger COVID safety measures and relief from impossibly high productivity standards that leave many unable to take bathroom breaks. Organizers report employees were required to attend anti-union captive audience meetings and have been bombarded with text messages promoting Amazon’s anti-union website. Workers will be able to cast ballots by mail through the end of March, when votes will be counted.

He was bullied as a boy because he could not speak well.  On his second date with Nelia (his first wife), Joe did not have enough money to pay the bill at the restaurant. Nelia slipped him a $20 under the table.
He was drafted to serve in the military but failed the physical because he had asthma.  In 1988, Biden underwent surgery for a brain aneurysm. Three months later, he had surgery for a second brain aneurysm.
He lost his first wife and daughter to a car accident.  Following the death of his first wife and daughter, He had mental health struggles that took him to the brink of suicide. Joe Biden is the president-elect of the United States.  To anyone struggling with anything, please remember, “tough times never last but tough people do.”
Keep going! Your dreams are valid.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe Union Workers are not overpaid and you are just simply underpaid.  Think about it.  Think about how much you are really worth at work.  How much do you value yourself?
